Ruth Johnson and Mark Titley have been named as the new Funeral Directors for Midlands Co-operative Funeral Service on Queensville, Stafford.
Staffordshire-born Ruth, who has worked for Midlands Co-operative Society for 16 years, has always worked for the Funeral service, but her new role is very different from her previous positions. As Ruth points out: “I initially joined Midlands Co-operative Funeral Services as an Administration Clerk and became Secretary to the General Manager eight years ago. In 2006 I undertook the Foundation Course for the Diploma in Funeral Directing in order to enhance my secretarial role, however, the course got under my skin and I decided I would like to become a Funeral Director myself. ”
Ruth, therefore, began to train for the Diploma in Funeral Directing, and attends tutor classes on a six-weekly basis, submitting tutor-marked assignments and practical reports. Ruth also carried out practical training at Midlands Co-operative’s Great Barr Funeral Home.
Mark Titley, who is also from Staffordshire, has become Funeral Director through a more traditional route. Mark joined Midlands Co-operative Funeral Service in Stafford as a Funeral Service Assistant in 2005. Mark is married with five children and enjoys playing sport and listening to music. Mark commented: “I am delighted to be working in my home town for such a caring and friendly funeral home. It is a privilege to work in Stafford and help families that I have grown up with over the years.”
Paul Webb, General Manager of Midlands Co-op Funeral Services added: “Ruth and Mark are both very caring, considerate members of our team. They will be a great asset to our Stafford Home and I wish them both every success in their new roles.”
