Harborne Funeral Director, Midlands Co-op Funeral Service, has appointed a new Funeral Director to its team.
Martin Tipping returns to his home town of Birmingham, having spent the last five years working for Midlands Co-op Funeral Services in Derbyshire.
Martin said: "I can honestly say that I’ve wanted to be a Funeral Director ever since I was a young child. I was fortunate enough to be taken on by Midlands Co-op in 2001 as a driver/bearer and I’ve loved my job from day one.
"I've been given excellent support in terms of training and have progressed through the ranks from Trainee Funeral Director to fully-fledged Funeral Director, having passed my Foundation Diploma in Funeral Directing and Diploma in Funeral Directing.
“This is such a rewarding profession and one that everyone working within feels privileged to do so. We are looking after families at the most vulnerable times of their lives. I believe in, and actively promote, best practice for the funeral profession. You only get one chance to get a funeral right, there’s no room for mistakes. Every detail will be etched in the memory of the family that’s lost a loved one and I want each and every family to receive the same level of service."
The Harborne Lane Funeral Home has been providing families within the local community with a 24 hour service for almost three years. The funeral home features attractive external signage and a welcoming foyer, two tastefully decorated arranging rooms where families can discuss their requirements in private. The home also has car parking facilities.
In addition, Martin and his colleagues can offer advice on all aspects of funeral arranging and details on pre-paid funeral bonds. The funeral home shares its premises with its sister masonry service, Bates and Sadler, where a number of memorials are on display and floral tributes can be ordered from Midlands Co-op's florist, Hearts and Flowers, which is located on the Pershore Road in Stirchley. From 1 July, the funeral home will be making the added gesture of providing families with a floral tribute of their choice up to a value of £50 with each funeral arrangement.
Martin lives in Studley with his wife and seven year old daughter, who has already expressed an interest in following in her father's footsteps.
Martin is supported by colleagues Kay Bicknell and Janet Glendenning and they can be contacted by calling 0121 471 4437. The funeral home is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday. The home also operates a 24-hour service.
